Discovering hundreds of sketches by Lucie Porges for Pauline Trigere at New School.
Researching Pauline Trigère archive at Parsons / New School in NYC.

An appointment with New School / Parson's School of Design archive led me to discover over 10 boxes of articles, photographs, sketches and VHS videos which I poured through over two full days.

A large portion of the archive were drawings from Pauline Trigère's long time associate Lucie Porges for the fashion show catalogs and sketches for the collections. The archive also included Lucie Porges' notes and sample sketches from her days teachings at Parsons. The original pamphlet of United Airline's 50 Year Anniversary celebration event in 1980 was also among one of the files, (see separate blog post). The Trigère label was one of 5 designers invited to create a garment of what the United Airline uniform would look like in the year 2030. One of the sketches I was most excited to discover was an alternate (never published) sketch of Pauline Trigère with famed interior decorator William Pahlman. The sketch illustrated Trigère and Pahlman having a conversation at the newly completed Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan in 1959. The restaurant was described to be the costliest restaurant ever built at the time and the IT place for the famous and the fabulous. The final version of this ad was published in September issue of Vogue magainze in 1959. Additional photos of this research trip can be found on my Instagram (Here).
